Rules & Regulations for Entry into the
National IPO/FH Championship
- Entry into the GSDCA National IPO/FH Championship
Trial is limited to German Shepherd Dogs.
- All dogs entered for the GSDCA National IPO/FH
Championship Award and to qualify for the Combined
Qualification Trial must have the following:
- IPO3, SchH3 or VPG3 title
- A qualifying score of 250 with at least 80 points
Pronounced in Protection
- AKC Registration
- AKC Four-Generation Pedigree if born in the
United States
- If foreign-born, FCI, WUSV or SV recognized
pedigree from the dog's country of birth
- GSDCA scorebook
- Hip and Elbow verifications must be shown on the
pedigree
- Must be in sufficient physical condition to
compete in this demanding competition
- If the dog has multiple owners, at least one owner
must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United
States and a member or pending member of the GSDCA.
- The Handler must be a citizen or permanent resident
of the United States and a member or pending member of
the GSDCA.
- Copies of the following documents must be submitted
with entry. Original documents must be presented
to the event secretary at check-in:
- Pedigree and Registration papers
- GSDCA, GSDCA-WDA, USCA or other FCI recognized
organization's scorebook with proof of qualifying
scores for this event
- Must be IPO3, SchH3 or VPG3 to enter IPO3
- Proof of tattoo or microchip certification if
not noted on the registration/pedigree papers
- Entries submitted without the above documents and
entry fee will not be accepted.

IPO1 and IPO2 Requirements |
- Does not require GSDCA membership to enter.
However, to qualify for IPO1 or IPO2 Champion, GSDCA
membership is required.
- The dog must be AKC registered if born in the United
States. If foreign-born the dog must be registered
with the dog's country of birth.
- The handler is not required to be a U.S. citizen or
permanent resident.

GSDCA H.O.T. Award Qualification
To qualify as a H.O.T.
(Handler-Owner-Trained) dog the following criteria must be
met:
- The handler-owner must be
a member in good standing of the GSDCA.
- The handler-owner must have
owned the dog from the age or 12 months.
- The handler-owner must
provide either AKC registration or foreign registration
showing proof of ownership and date of ownership.
- The handler-owner must have handled the dog for all
training and titling of the dog.
- Dog may not have been leased out to anyone prior to
all titles being earned.
- Co-ownership is allowed but both parties must have
their names on the registration from the beginning of
ownership. Only one of the owners can be the
handler/trainer of the dog.

GSDCA B.H.O.T. Award Qualification
To qualify as a B.H.O.T.
(Breeder-Handler-Owner-Trained) dog the following criteria must be
met:
- The breeder-owner must be
a member in good standing of the GSDCA.
- The Dog must carry the
breeder-owner's kennel name.
- The breeder-owner must
provide either AKC registration or foreign registration
listing breeder, showing proof of ownership and date of ownership.
- The dog must be AKC
registered by 12 months of age.
- You as breeder-owner must have done all training and
put all titles on the dog.
- Dog may not have been leased out to anyone.
- Co-ownership is allowed but both parties must have
their names on the registration from the beginning of
ownership, and only one of those parties can be the
handler/trainer of the dog.

Please Note:
- Electronic and Pinch Collars are not allowed
anywhere on the trial grounds or defined area.
- The Judges' decisions are final.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct or abuse will result in the
competitor being dismissed from the event.
